Street Lights

Well lit streets are important for public safety and do a lot to make our village more attractive. In May of 2020, the Village completed a three-year process of acquiring our old, outdated, and inefficient street lights from the utility company and replacing them with new, energy efficient, publicly-owned fixtures.

The Village of Sodus now owns our streetlights — something that hasn’t occurred since 1933!

This means that we are responsible for any streetlight outages. See below for the procedure to report a non-functioning streetlight.


To report an issue with a streetlight within the Village of Sodus, click on the Report an Issue button, above. This will take you to an on-line form where you can report the issue.

Be prepared to enter your name and e-mail address in case we need to reach out to you and so we can let you know when the issue is resolved.

Enter the date of your report.

Enter the fixture ID# found on the utility pole. Our streetlight numbers are black on yellow, arranged vertically, and consist of a letter “S” followed by three digits (for example, “S016”), as in the image, below.
